The Legend of Wayao Village

Wayao village belongs to the Stream Village in Changping district in Beijing, which has much connection with the Forbidden City and the Great Wall. The ana hotel kyoto has a long history built in the early year in Ming Dynasty. At that time it fires brick and makes clay for a living. It is a legend that Wayao village was named by emperor Zhu Di of the Ming dynasty.
The history annuals have the general description of the construction of the Forbidden City by Zhu Di in Beijing. The emperor Yongle sent ministers to Sichuan and Jiangxi and so on to gather wood for bricks, collecting the skillful craftsman ready to provide service for the emperor. It’s said that Yang Qing, a brick layer, when he makes arrangements for materials, he comes to Wayao village, and praises highly of the bricks in Wayao village. As a result, he takes all of them that are used for building palaces and bases for the city, therefore this “requisition” continues to Qing dynasty.

Yang Qing named Yang Asun used to be an ordinary craftsman. The emperor happens to find the colorful marks on the walls of palace that has been painted not long ago the other day, and he asks the servants curiously, Yang Asun who is busy working answers the emperor that this is caused by the traces of the snail. Then the emperor wants his name and says in smile: it’s time for the willow tree to grow green, then your name is Yang Qing. From then on, Yang Qing is given high positions because of his contributions.

After the construction of Forbidden City in 1420, it has experienced twenty-four emperors in Ming and Qing dynasties whose names are written on the annals. During the establishment of Forbidden City, a large number of craftsmen and strong males devote their wisdom and sweat and even lives to this construction. Nowadays, only several craftsmen can be found in historical documents sporadically. Yang Qing is one of them who has been to Wayao village before that is recognized by feudal emperor and is given an official post.
